Marcus Rashford explains how he scored his best ever goal

It's fair to say that it has been quite the year for Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.

The 18-year-old, who only made his debut for the club back in February, has netted 12 goals in 26 games for the Red Devils.

The forward failed to fire during the club's 1-0 victory over FC Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League on Thursday but netted against Premier League champions Leicester City last weekend.

One thing is for sure, Rashford will score many, many more goals for United during his career.

But which goal ranks as his greatest? Well, perhaps surprisingly, Rashford has insisted that he scored his best goal when he was "about 14 or 15".

Rashford's best goal

Indeed, speaking to The Sun, the teenager has described how, alongside his striker partner, he took the ball from kick-off to find the back of the net.

He stated: “I was about 14 or 15. I can’t remember who it was against but two of us went forward from kick-off, played it between each other and I scored. It would be nice to do that in the Premier League, mind!”

Unsurprisingly, as he attempted to make his way in the game through the youth system, Rashford looked up to a number of United's world-class forwards.

Looked up to 3 players

He has revealed that he used to watch the trio of Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez.

With Rooney still at Old Trafford, Rashford has admitted that the United captain has given him advice about his career.

He continued: “Growing up, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo were the players I looked up to — and Carlos Tevez when he was at the club.

“I didn’t really speak to Cristiano as I wasn’t in the first team then, but I’ve obviously spoken to Wazza He’s given me advice. He’s told me to stick to what I have always done, and just keep playing my football."

Rashford will now be hoping to add to his impressive tally when the Red Devils take on Stoke City at the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday afternoon. After three consecutive victories, Jose Mourinho's side will be hoping to secure another three points against Mark Hughes' struggling side.
