It has been a difficult period for Chelsea and their new manager Antonio Conte.

The west London outfit have failed to pick up a victory in their last three Premier League games, drawing with Welsh outfit Swansea City and succumbing to two defeats against the duo of Arsenal and Liverpool.

The club's latest defeat, against the Gunners, proved a humiliating experience as they conceded three times in the opening half of the game.

With the club set to take on Hull City at the KCOM Stadium later today, Blues fans will be hoping for a reaction from their side.

And it appears that Conte is set to take action himself and make one big change to his defence.

Ivanovic to be axed

Indeed, as reported by Matt Law of the Telegraph, it has been claimed that Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic is set to be dropped from the side.

Ivanovic, 32, has endured a topsy-turvy year or so in west London and hasn't been able to find his best form for some time.

It wasn't so long ago that he was one of the most consistent performers in England's elite division, but things have gone downhill for him since the start of last season.

Ultimately, though, with captain John Terry currently on the sidelines, leaving out the experienced Ivanovic would prove a risk for Conte at this stage.

Chelsea clearly need leaders at the back and, despite Ivanovic's frailties, he is certainly a leader.

But what do Blues fans think their manager should do? Well, going by their tweets on social media, it appears that they are excited by the prospect of Ivanovic being left out of the team.

Without Terry and Ivanovic, it appears that Gary Cahill, who has also come in for a great deal of criticism recently, would take on the role of captain.

Here's how Chelsea fans have responded on Twitter:
