With that in mind, you'd think whoever runs the Arsenal Twitter account wouldn't want to stir up old, painful memories of just how good RVP was in his day.
Safe to say, a video of one of his best goals - scored exactly 10 years ago today - did not go down well.
Actually, it went down terribly.
Looking at it now, it seems strange to see him leap into the crowd to be embraced by Arsenal fans. RVP must have known he would upset a few people when he crossed the divide, but he might not have anticipated that he'd still be getting this level of vitriol all this time later.
Take a look at the meltdown that greeted that tweet:
In truth, it's understandable how the Dutchman grew frustrated by the lack of silverware at the Emirates, and winning the league at United did a lot to justify him walking out on the Gunners.
Arsenal didn't actually do that badly out of the deal either, grabbing £24million for the forward. Four years on, though, and they still haven't won the title.
RVP may be a part of Premier League history now having moved on to Fenerbahce, but the Emirates faithful won't forget him in a hurry, and not because they want to reminisce over his goals.
