Tonight that question as answered as Hawkins himself revealed that he will be making his debut at No Mercy this Sunday.
Hawkins will be stepping into a WWE ring for the first time since he was released from his contract in 2014.
He announced his return in a video that ran during tonight's episode of Smackdown and while we now know that he will be back on Sunday, we don't know who his opponent will be.
Hawkins has previously spent a lot of time in the WWE and is one in a string of returning superstars being brought in to add depth to the roster now that the shows are once again split.
Surely there is one big name for Hawkins to go up against on Sunday in Zack Ryder - his former tag team partner.
Either way, the return of Hawkins will be very interesting to see where he ends up on the Smackdown roster and just who his first feud will be?
With Hawkins returning this Sunday, the only other big name returning superstar we have yet to see is Shelton Benjamin.
Benjamin's return was announced after the draft - shortly before he suffered an injury which has kept him out since.
