It's been a rollercoaster summer for Klay Thompson. The previous campaign ended in disappointment as the Golden State Warriors lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he added an Olympic gold medal to his growing collection of accolades with success in Rio de Janeiro.
The shooting guard returned to the Bay Area and produced a 30-point game in the Warriors' second pre-season game as they dismantled the L.A. Clippers.
Thompson's current position is a far cry from 12 months before, where he failed to hit the ground running as he struggled with back stiffness in the early stages of Golden State's title defence.
The two-time All-Star has been in scorching form since returning to training and puts it down to his time in Brazil. According to Anthony Slater of Mercury News, he said: “Shoutout to the Olympics,” when Steve Kerr spoke about his pinpoint accuracy in practice.
Of course, there are drawbacks to international competition, fatigue could set in at some point throughout a testing NBA season but for now, the Warriors are set to reap the rewards of a fit Thompson who has returned to action at full throttle.
As if the NBA didn't already have enough to worry about with the Warriors.
