Frank Lampard can certainly look back on his career with great pride when he eventually decides to retire from the game.

The 38-year-old is winding down on his 21 years in football at MLS side New York City these days, however, he will be bettered remembered for his 13 seasons at Chelsea.

Lampard won effectively everything there is to win at Stamford Bridge, including three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and a Champions League.

He has already started reflecting on life at the top and revealed a bit more insight in a video posted on his current club's official Youtube account.

The former England international was posed various questions on Twitter about his career but one in particular really caught our attention.

One user asked what Lampard's funniest on-pitch memory was - roughly 2:45 in the video below.

With over two decades' worth of experience, you'd expect Lampard to have a few good stories to tell and he picked out a moment involving one of his former midfield partners.

"One thing I do remember which I always found, not funny, but it was funny in a team way was the first year we won the league at Chelsea," Lampard responded.

"We'd won it clearly by the last game of the season, Claude Makelele had hardly had a shot on goal all year so we gave him the chance to take a penalty.

"Obviously there was a big build up to it waiting for him to score and he missed it but then put in the rebound.

"It wasn't like a really comical moment but behind the scenes, we were so desperate for him to get that goal and it was just funny the way he ended up scoring off the rebound."

Makelele was already a cult hero for the Blues before that penalty against Charlton - which you can relive below - but the fact he hit it so poorly, before bundling it in at the second attempt, only endeared him to the supporters even more.

He was equally popular amongst his own teammates but you can see why he never became the Blues' regular spot-kick taker.

Nevertheless, we think Lampard might be holding back on a few juicer stories during his time at the top that must have been a bit funnier.
