The WWE Universe is on a high right now after it was all-but confirmed that Goldberg will be facing Brock Lesnar once again in a WWE ring.

After Goldberg appeared on ESPN's Sports Center with Jonathan Coachman and hinted at facing Lesnar, those hints turned into pretty much a confirmation when Paul Heyman issued the challenge this past week on Monday Night Raw.

That has now set up Goldberg's dramatic return to WWE, and he will respond to Heyman's challenge on next week's episode.

However, not everyone is best pleased with the booking of Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar, and one person in particular is a former WWE superstar.

Speaking on the Busted Open radio show, Ryback gave his thoughts on WWE's decision to book the bout between the two beasts, and he's seemingly annoyed.

Ryback admitted it's cool to see Goldberg returning to WWE, but he doesn't believe he should be returning to face Lesnar, he believes he should have returned to face him.

Sadly for Ryback, he was released by WWE earlier this year, so his dreams of facing Goldberg are very slim, and certainly won't be happening in a WWE ring anytime soon.

During the early days of his career, Ryback was met with 'Goldberg' chants from the WWE Universe, and he believes it should have been the match the WWE booked.

He said: “I think it’s really cool that he, he’s going to be 50-years-old, that he wants to come back and come back for his family and kids to see him in true time do his thing.

"Now, I will say, he knows, he said it himself, he’s going on 50-years-old and he has been away from the game for quite a long time.

"And for me, for my own selfish reasons, that should be me and Goldberg. It shouldn’t be him and Brock. It has been there. They’ve done that 13 years ago. It’s 13 years have gone by. We’re in a different era now.”

Ryback might have a point about being in a different era since Goldberg last appeared, but we aren't sure Goldberg vs Ryback would sell as many tickets as Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar.
