Bellew beat BJ Flores in three rounds.

Tony Bellew calls out David Haye after knockout win

Tony Bellew destroyed BJ Flores in just three rounds at Liverpool's Echo Arena to defend his WBC cruiserweight title.

It was the first defence of his crown since defeating Ilunga Makubu in dramatic style at Goodison Park in May.

Going into the bout, Flores claimed that Bellew wasn't a true cruiserweight because of his light-heavyweight past and looked to exact his revenge on the American from the first bell.

The 33-year-old floored his opponent three times in the second round, before eventually stopping him in the third with a crippling body shot.

Those watching the bout may have been a tad disappointed to have not witnessed a more compelling contest, however what lacked in the ring was certainly made up for after the fight when Bellew immediately jumped out of the ring to call out David Haye who was commentating on the fight ringside.

Haye, who was working for Sky Sports, has been offered a shot at his old WBC belt early next year.

"I wanted to get close to him to express how I feel," said Bellew.

"He has been conning the British public. Let's be totally honest, those two guys you've just fought, they're now working on nightclub doors or putting the bins out. They were a joke.

"You predicted BJ would beat me. He got smashed and you will get smashed too.

"You remember what happened when I was an amateur and you were fighting for the British title, me and Pricey spanked you in the gym.

"I'll put you and that pathetic haircut to sleep.

"I don't fear you. I smashed your nightclub buddy and I will smash you.

"His dimensions are the same as mine. He's six foot like me, I'm a little fatter and he's better looking, but we're the same.

"He's gone to heavyweight because he loves money, but I'm the biggest payday you will get."

And of course, Twitter was quick to react to the events.

We sure hope this fight goes ahead at some stage, it would be a cracker.
