The WWE have tried almost everything possible to try and get Roman Reigns over with the audience.
While a heel turn seems out of the equation right now, we’ve seen him demoted to the United States Championship picture and take on the evil, foreign heel in Rusev in the hope that he can receive mostly positive reactions on a weekly basis.
GETTING REIGNS OVER
It’s safe to say that there’s been a slight change in the results, although the boos are still there for all to hear, it’s not as bad as it was around a year ago when Reigns was edging closer to holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The Mirror caught up with Sheamus where they discussed his run as the WWE Champion, and The Celtic Warrior has revealed that the company used him as the heel champion to help Reigns get over with the fans.
He said: “It’s funny, I look at the thing with Roman and it was great for me, because we went to Philly [in December 2015], almost a year before at the Rumble they booed him out of the building.
“But when we were having a match, they were chanting ‘Roman Reigns’. So at that moment I knew I was doing my job to do and that was to get Roman back where he needed to be, you know.”
Sheamus also went on to mention how he was in a difficult spot because the original plan was supposed to feature Reigns taking on Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship.
LEAGUE OF NATIONS
However, when Rollins got injured, the WWE went with the idea of the tournament which saw Reigns defeat Dean Ambrose in the final at Survivor Series, as Sheamus was chosen to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase right after the match.
This is also why the League of Nations was formed, and it’s not the first time someone from the faction was used to get Reigns over.
Upon leaving the company, Wade Barrett revealed that the only reason the WWE had created the League of Nations which featured Barrett, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio and Rusev, was to help get Reigns over.
While it worked for a short time, the WWE could have killed two birds with one stone if they kept the title on Sheamus for longer.
The longer Sheamus stayed as champion as the heel, the more he’d be hated and eventually, the fans would have sided with Reigns more than ever.
