Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were two of the most competitive footballers in the Premier League during their respective playing careers.

And, with their former teams - Manchester United and Liverpool - set to clash on what Sky Sports are dubbing 'Red Monday', Soccer AM tried to get the competitive juices flowing between the pair once again with a quiz about the famous rivalry.

With dozens of appearances in the derby game between them, you'd expect both players to be pretty knowledgeable about what exactly went down in years gone by. However, as you can see in the brilliant video below, one former star really let his side down.

The questions came thick and fast and ranged from the easy - who played in more wins - to the more obscure - what was the score when Carragher and Neville first lined up against each other in the big game way back in 1994.

In fairness to the pair, even the most die-hard supporter of either North West team would have struggled to come out of the quiz with a 100 percent record. Gary Neville, though, you should be ashamed...

We're not sure what stands out more; Carragher's Rain Man-like knowledge of his encounters with Neville and the red half of Manchester, or the United man's very selective memory of the exact same moments in football history.

Or, perhaps, the fact that Carragher managed an impressive 11 bookings against United in his career.

As is revealed at the end of the video, Carra secured Liverpool the bragging rights on this occasion - scoring 9 correct answers out of 10 compared to Neville's generous 3.5.

Not that the former England right-back seemed particularly bothered as he admitted to remembering literally nothing about the games he played in.

With both player-turned-pundits set to be covering tonight's game, let's hope Neville has brushed up a little on his knowledge by the time Sky Sports goes live.
