The Portland Trail Blazers were the surprise package of last season as they managed to reach the Western Conference semi-finals against the all the odds.
But after falling to the Golden State Warriors, expectations have been raised around the franchise, and that includes with their star player Damian Lillard.
The point guard took many of the plaudits as he led the organisation to the postseason despite losing four of their starting players in the summer of 2015.
Last year he was hopeful of reaching the playoffs and this year, when questioned, he had much, much higher aspirations for himself and his teammates.
"Make the playoffs. Last year I said we were going to make the playoffs, and we did that.
"This year I want to get to the Western Conference finals and give ourselves a chance to get to the [NBA] Finals," Lillard told ESPN. "I think it's possible."
It will be a huge ask; the Western Conference is always fiercely competitive, but it is not impossible. Lillard has been improving at an incredible rate since his rookie campaign and, with a strong supporting cast, has the ability to take them far.
The Blazers have not been real competitors since the turn of the millennium and it would be fantastic to see them back around the top.
