Ask any Arsenal fan born in the 1990s to name the club's best ever player and they'll inevitably say either Thierry Henry or Dennis Bergkamp.

The legendary pair terrorised English and European defences for seven years at Highbury and the Emirates Stadium, winning the Premier League twice and three FA Cups during that time.

Henry's pace and movement perfectly complemented Bergkamp's intelligence, and vice versa.

On too many occasions would the Frenchman latch on to one of his Dutch teammate's defence-splitting through balls and slot past the goalkeeper emphatically.

But if you 'had to choose one player to score for your life, who would it be?'

That was the bizarre question asked of former winger Freddie Ljungberg during a recent Q&A session with Arsenal fans in Australia, where he essentially had to name the better finisher.

And his response? Well, he began by hailing both Henry and Bergkamp but came to a rather unexpected conclusion.

"Both of them are great goalscorers," he said, "but I think I would probably pick Bergkamp."

So here's the scenario: Ljungberg's life is on the line and he must pick one player to score a goal in order to save him from death.

One would assume the Swede to pick Henry, Arsenal's all-time record goalscorer, but instead he opted for Bergkamp, who scored one of the Premier League's best ever goals against Newcastle.

It's perhaps little wonder Ljungberg chose Bergkamp, though, considering Henry ranks the former Netherlands international as the best player he's ever played with.

The Sky Sports pundit said last year: "Because of longevity, and because I saw him every day in training for seven years, Bergkamp.

Thierry Henry (R) of Arsenal celebrates

"Why? Because he was always doing what the game was asking him to do.

"I admired how Dennis was always trying to respect the game. He could score but he could also pass and wait for the right moment.

"He was always trying to respect the game when he could do other stuff. I respected him a lot for that but also the way he trained. The way he used to train was just not normal.

"The guy didn't want to lose the ball. He would foul you, get in your face, he wants to be first in the run."
