Manchester City fans will be licking their wounds for some time after Barcelona tore them apart in a 4-0 thumping at the Nou Camp on Monday evening.
One man who will be hurting more than most is Pep Guardiola – whose return to his former club ended in his side being completely dismantled by a vastly superior team.
Lionel Messi and Neymar – two players whom the 45-year-old reportedly tried to bring with him to the Etihad this summer – did the damage on the scoresheet as the Catalan giants dispatched the Premier League leaders with consummate ease.

While City fans would be wise to steer clear of watching Champions League highlights for the time being, their crosstown rivals are relishing in their misery.
Social media certainly indicates that is case – and even one Old Trafford legend has admitted his delight in watching Guardiola’s men be made to look well out of their depth.
Gary Neville is one of the staunchest high-profile United supporters out there and has a knack for letting his views be known via his Twitter account.
The former England international posted about an “excellent meal” he enjoyed on the evening of the 4-0 thrashing, to which another user asked: “So you didn’t get to see the Blues get mauled?”
Like most other Red Devils fans, Neville has reaped great pleasure from learning of City’s disastrous European outing, as suggested by his response.
The 41-year-old tweeted: “I watched it 3 times when I got home!!”
Despite their own club not competing in the elite European competition this season, it is only natural for the United faithful to get a buzz from seeing their nemesis be humiliated on the grandest stage.
Considering the Manchester derby went the way of City back in September, United fans will take any chance they can get to cut down their rivals until the next opportunity to beat them rolls around in February.
