Who would have thought being squashed by Braun Strowman could lead to such a push in the WWE.
A couple of months ago, the WWE Universe were introduced to James Ellsworth. A non-athletic looking challenger to Strowman on Monday Night Raw, and someone who was beaten relatively quickly.
However, his bizarre look and his underdog story has captured the hearts of the WWE Universe and they are seemingly fully behind the jobber.

In fact, he made a surprise return to the blue brand of SmackDown LIVE a few weeks ago, put alongside AJ Styles in a tag team match, only to be jumped from behind by The Miz.
That wasn't the last we saw of Ellsworth, however, as he returned to SmackDown LIVE last week and got the opportunity to face the WWE Champion.
Not only did he face him, he actually defeated him, setting up a title match on this week's episode.
Okay, he only won because Dean Ambrose was the special guest referee, who hit two Dirty Deeds on Styles, but a win is a win.
So this past week on SmackDown LIVE, Ellsworth shared the squared circle with Styles once again, and once again, he beat him.
Sadly, however, he didn't win the WWE Championship because he won the match due to disqualification, leaving Styles as the WWE Champion.
The record books will state that James Ellsworth is 2-0 over AJ Styles, however.
Ellsworth has recently appeared on Eric Bischoff's podcast 'Bischoff on Wrestling', and he has revealed what Vince McMahon said to him after he defeated AJ Styles.
Ellsworth said: “Yesterday, after the match, I got to walk up and shake his hand and he told me, “Good job.” From him it means the world. I have so much respect for him.
"He’s the number one guy in the business and has been for a long time. I never expected to even have a conversation with him, ever. For him to just look me in the eye and tell me, “Good job,” that’s the most overwhelming thing to me. For sure.”
