After Daniel Bryan fired shots at Monday Night Raw on the latest episode of 'Talking Smack' on Tuesday night, it hasn't taken long for the general manager of the red brand to retaliate.

Bryan accused Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon of running Raw in a 'rather cowardly' fashion, bringing back big names in order to boost ratings and sell out tickets.

Of course, the SmackDown LIVE general manager was talking about Goldberg's long-awaited return to the squared circle - an occasion that certainly boosted the ratings.

Goldberg accepted Brock Lesnar's challenge, which will continue to bring in ratings for Raw, but Bryan insists that his brand don't need to call upon big names to get in viewers.

This wasn't the first time the former WWE Champion hit out at Foley and Stephanie. His first shot at them came when he accused them of hogging TV time on Monday night's.

However, Foley hasn't taken the latest dig lightly and he has responded to Bryan.

The Raw GM has taken to Facebook to post a response to his rival, and he's refuted the 'coward' remarks.

He posted: 'REALLY?

'So McMahon/Foley, the duo who booked the first women's main event on #Raw in 12 years, and who have booked the first ever Hell in a Cell Match in #WomensWrestling history are cowardly? Really? Cowardly?

WWE SummerSlam 2015

'Daniel might want to rethink his word choice there. It seems to me the last time he chose the root word "coward" to describe someone, he was schooled by The Miz.

'Stephanie and I thought we would have to wait until #SurvivorSeries to humble Daniel and Shane-O Mac - but if need be, we can layeth the verbal smacketh down on their candy asses long before then.

'Don't mess with the #McMahonFoleyConnection.

'*Rock's catch-phrase stolen with his permission.'

Bryan may not be a fan of the way Foley and Stephanie run Monday Night Raw, but bringing back Goldberg was a stroke of genius in terms of viewership and ticket sales.

It looks like the build up to Survivor Series, which takes place next month, could be more heated than anticipated.

SmackDown LIVE will go against Monday Night Raw in three traditional Survivor Series matches. An elimination male match, an elimination tag team match, and an elimination women's match.
