For Manchester United fans hoping to see their team break free of their defensive shackles and unleash their true attacking potential in Thursday night's Europa League tie against Fenerbahce, the first half an hour of the game didn't offer much hope.
Then everything changed as the Red Devils were rewarded two penalties in the space of as many minutes.
The first came courtesy of a lovely pass from Michael Carrick to find Juan Mata, and provided Paul Pogba with the perfect chance to break the deadlock. The Frenchman did just that, but not before a nerve-inducing run up.
When Mata was bundled over in the Fenerbahce box on the half hour mark, many may have expected Wayne Rooney to be the man to step up and attempt to convert from the spot.
However, it was the world record signing who took on the responsibility. As you might expect given the 23-year-old's flamboyant character, he had to make things a little interesting with the way he ran up to the ball.
Those who remember Italy and current West Ham player Simone Zaza's botched penalty in Euro 2016 will have been having heart palpitations at Pogba's stutter run up. But, unlike the Italy star, Pogba made no mistake as he hammered home United's first goal.
Mind you, maybe it is actually Zaza who copied the former Juventus star. Pogba did, after all, perform the same run up back during his first spell at Old Trafford.
Whether Mourinho had an issue with the unusual approach or not, Pogba wasn't the man given the opportunity to double United's lead when the Red Devils won a second penalty less than two minutes after their opening goal.
This time, after Anthony Martial had been pushed to the ground after an excellent pass from Mata had put him through on goal, it was the fouled player himself who converted in far less dramatic fashion.
