It’s still sinking in that the WWE have finally brought back Bill Goldberg, with the former World Heavyweight Champion expected to take on Brock Lesnar at the Survivor Series pay-per-view.

There were always doubts surrounding his return; many believed it was the wrong decision and that the WrestleMania XX rematch with The Beast Incarnate should never take place.

GOLDBERG RETURN

However, judging by the incredible reaction he received on Monday Night Raw earlier this week, fans are excited as ever to see him back, and if the reaction remains the same in Toronto next month, there’s a chance he could stick around until WrestleMania.

Initially, multiple sources reported that the match with Lesnar was a one-off deal, and Toronto has always been a city that has been negative towards the WCW legend, although that it’s expected to be the case anymore at Survivor Series.

While legends such as Ric Flair are sceptical of the match, and Jim Ross doesn’t want it to headline the event, Goldberg could be having more matches in the WWE based on the reaction from the fans.

This is according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who claim that if Goldberg’s match with Lesnar goes down a success, the two of them could meet again.

They’re suggesting that it could be a three-match series with The Beast, meaning they could both trade victories before a rubber match concludes their rivalry.

GOLDBERG VS. THE UNDERTAKER?

However, they’re also reporting that The Undertaker is a possibility for WrestleMania 33, again, depending on the sort of welcome Goldberg receives upon his in-ring return and how well he can compete in an intense match.

They posted: “It’s a possible three-match program with Lesnar, or a match with Undertaker (provided Undertaker returns at WrestleMania, as Undertaker told everyone after last year’s show that it was his final match) could be a big match at WrestleMania.”

The Undertaker’s WrestleMania status is still up in the air; there’s no clear opponent for him, although it would be an incredible send-off for Goldberg if he can secure a WrestleMania match with The Deadman.

However, having recently been spotted using crutches and even having undergone hip surgery, it’s unclear whether the WWE will finalise plans this early for 'Taker.

If Goldberg can still move well in the ring and compete to a standard where a potential bout with The Phenom can be worthwhile on the biggest night in the WWE calendar, then it won’t be a surprise to see that happen.

Right now, they both have something to prove.

Goldberg needs to show he still has what it takes to compete on the biggest stage and win over the fans, and if The Undertaker still wants to compete, he needs to prove his fitness by that time.
