Returns are the latest trend in World Wrestling Entertainment, but one that is still no close to happening is Kurt Angle.

The former WWE Champion has been heavily linked with making a return to the company, and is heavily expected to appear some time next year, but according to Dave Meltzer, Vince McMahon is still negative on the idea and has been throughout.

It's well documented that Angle is a strong possibility for next year's 2k game, which would then ultimately see him return to WWE in some way, shape or form.

2k and WWE have done it in the past with The Ultimate Warrior, Sting, and now Goldberg, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Angle back on WWE TV in 2017.

However, McMahon has been rather negative when it comes to the return of Angle, despite all he did for the company during the Attitude Era.

It's well known that the chairman doesn't like having superstars on his show that have addiction problems, or who have suffered from it in the past, which Angle has done.

In a recent interview, the former WWE and TNA star admitted to having a serious addiction problem, which once saw him taking 65 extra strength Vicodin a day.

With Angle now out of contract with TNA and doing a few bits on the independent scene, it's clear that his wrestling days are coming to an end, but one last stint in WWE is something the majority of people want to see.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McMahon still has the final say on who WWE bring back, and due to his negativity towards Angle in the past, it's looking like a return may never happen.

Responding to a fans question on Twitter, Meltzer stated that the decision about Angle is all down to Vince, and given his negativity in the past, it's looking unlikely.

However, he did end the tweet with 'minds can be changed', which gives the WWE Universe some hope to cling on to.
