While it came as a huge surprise to find out that AJ Styles was going to be joining the WWE, it came as an equal shock that he was bringing Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows along with him from Japan.
While they didn’t debut alongside the former leader of The Bullet Club, their arrival on Monday Night Raw brought a similar sense of excitement, and many thought they were destined to reach the top right away.
SPLITTING UP THE CLUB
That’s not exactly gone to plan right now, through no fault of their own, though, as the New Day have been simply too good to dethrone.

Having constantly lost to the champions on numerous occasions, it’s led many to believe that they’re being misused in the tag team division.
It’s difficult to disagree with that. Talent-wise, they should be steamrolling through the competition and now it makes you assume that a move to SmackDown Live would have been the better decision.
However, speaking to GiveMeSport's Alex McCarthy to promote the new season of WWE Super Cards, the current WWE Champion AJ Styles has revealed that he expects Gallows and Anderson to capture the Raw Tag Team Championships soon, and despite labelling their move to Raw ‘painful’, he explained that he thinks it was for the best.
WORKED OUT FOR THE BEST
He said: “I think it is only a matter of time before Anderson & Gallows are the tag team champs on Raw and it was actually a little bit painful to see those guys go to Raw as I went to SmackDown because, you know, we were in Japan for almost two years together, then when we got in the WWE we were riding together.
“Those guys are more than just my friends; they are my family.
“So, to have them go elsewhere was a real heartbreak, but at the same time, it gives them the opportunity to go off on their own and do what they want to do; get interview time as them and then AJ Styles gets his on SmackDown.
“Truth is, it worked really great for both of us, for Gallows & Anderson and myself.”
In the long run, it probably does work out for the best that they were split up, even though it may not seem like it right now.
You can only have Anderson and Gallows in AJ’s shadow for so long, and splitting them up allows them the opportunity to grow as their own team and dominate in the tag team division on the red brand, whenever the WWE give them the opportunity they clearly deserve.
It’s worked out for Styles so far as he holds the biggest prize in the WWE, and it may not be long before the WWE are forced to give in to their talents, and give Gallows and Anderson a chance to show why they were highly-sought after.
