The end is nigh for Bastian Schweinsteiger at Manchester United.

Following a disastrous debut season for the Red Devils, alongside Jose Mourinho's arrival as manager, the German has become an isolated figure at the Theatre of Dreams.

A loan move in January appears imminent, with Schweinsteiger currently training on his own, at a different time and and away from United's squad.

It's been hammer blow after hammer blow for the former Bayern Munich midfielder, who has been subjected to humilation by his manager after being told to clear out his first-team locker and report to the Under-23s earlier this season.

And yet, somehow, his career in Manchester has taken another turn for the worse.

United released their 2016/17 squad photo on Twitter earlier today (see below), with Schweinsteiger - and the FA Cup, strangely - a noteable absentee.

Clearly, Mourinho didn't feel it necessary to include the 32-year-old or United's only major trophy in three years.

United fans were quick to notice Schweinsteiger's omission and reacted furiously, bombarding the club's Twitter account with hateful responses.

WHERE THE F***ING HELL IS SCHWEINSTEIGER?

The photo also confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is still alive and well, despite having not played for United since September's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.

It's a crying shame how Schweinsteiger has been treated at United, especially considering how he shows his support each and every week for his teammates.

The recently-retired Germany international was present at Wednesday night's EFL Cup clash with City and posted a picture of himself inside Old Trafford on Twitter.

Attached to the image was the caption: "Manchester derby tonight. Looking forward to the game! Good luck, guys!"

Stay classy, Bastian.
