When Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors this summer it meant two things: One, the Warriors, who had already won a record-setting 73 games last season, were going to be near on unstoppable.
Two: The Thunder were considerably hurt by Durant's departure and their days as Western Conference contenders were numbered.
Or did it? So far in this young season, the Thunder are 2-0 and Russell Westbrook has been out of this world as the team's new leader.
The two-time All-Star MVP scored 51 points as part of a triple-double against the Phoenix Suns and he was also only one assist away from a triple-double in the season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers.
His new backcourt teammate, Victor Oladipo, has paid tribute to the man who turns 28 in two weeks and insists despite some negative perceptions about the guard, he is a one-of-a-kind man, via Royce Young of ESPN.
As you can see by the tweet, Oladipo and Westbrook have gotten close very quickly.
The former Orlando Magic man said they spent two months in L.A. together this summer to make sure they had some chemistry by the time they united for the Thunder.
Let's hope their relationship doesn't have a messy climax like one of Westbrook's previous teammates...
