Tuesday was a tough day for New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall. It was an emotional one for the veteran.
Trade deadline day is always a time where NFL players get a little on edge as rumours fly about the Twittersphere with talk of them potentially being uprooted hundreds of miles all for a third round draft pick.
That was the living nightmare Marshall faced yesterday as he revealed that he was nearly in tears when he thought that he was being traded away from the Big Apple.
Marshall appeared on CBSSports's show 'We Need to Talk' on Tuesday and relayed the story of how he was close to crying when he was told by his assistant that he had received an urgent call from a member of the Jets organization.
"Literally three minutes ago, I got a call from someone within the [Jets] organization," Marshall said.
"My assistant called and said, 'Hey B, this guy called you and said it's an emergency.' We were just in the green room. I put my head down and I was like, 'Oh my gosh. I'm about to get traded.'
Marshall added: "He said, 'I just want to let you know. Don't listen to the rumors. We're not shopping you.' I was about to cry. I literally was about to cry. I was like, 'How am I going to go on this show and maintain myself?' But, I'm still a Jet."
That would absolutely have made for one of the most awkward moments in television history had Marshall come on the show immediately after finding out he had been traded to Kansas City or Tennessee.
Thankfully, the big man is still in New York, where it seems he is very happy as a part of Gang Green.
