If you’re a fan of Football Manager, you’ll be aware the game gives you an ‘Addictedness rating’ depending on the number of hours you’ve spent playing.
These include ’Time to change your underwear’, ‘This is my life and I’ll do what I want with it’, and ‘Better take out another pizza’.
But we can’t imagine what message Darren Bland, the holder of a new Guinness World Record, must have seen after entering his 154th season as manager of Fiorentina.
Darren is now officially a world-record holder after achieving the ‘Longest Single Game of Football Manager’ in history.
He achieved the ‘feat’ on Football Manager 2010 after playing for a whopping 173 days, 16 hours and 51 minutes.

Darren reached the year 2163
He was approximately 190 years old in the game - which would have made him, and by some distance, the longest living human being in history - and had entered the year 2163 when his career was brought to an abrupt end.
Why was his career brought to an abrupt end? Because he accidentally spilt liquid on his laptop.
You couldn’t make it up.
His record signing cost £105m
Incredibly, Darren won the title in 151 of his 154 seasons in charge of the Serie A club, cementing his status as the best manager in football history in the process.
His most expensive signing was a regen called Luis Tejedor, who cost a cool £105 million to sign on 1 July 2040.
Six years earlier in the game and Algeria were crowned world champions when they triumphed at the 2034 World Cup finals.
He applied for the Liverpool job in real life...
After enjoying so much success on Football Manager, Darren decided to apply for a real-life job in football management at… Liverpool.
Needless to say his application was rejected, but the Reds’ loss continued to be virtual Fiorentina’s gain.
