Henrikh Mkhitaryan may not be getting a look in at Old Trafford right now, but he produced a fine display as Armenia secured a precious victory over Montenegro to claim their first win of the World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign.
In fact, Armenia came from two-nil down to win three-two as goals from Artak Grigoryan, Varazdat Haroyan and Gevorg Ghazaryan helped them secure all three points. Ghazaryan's goal came deep into stoppage time as Armenia celebrated a dramatic late victory.
The three points has helped Armenia move off the bottom of Group E and they are now only four points behind Montenegro, who remain at the summit of the table.
As you can imagine, then, fans of Manchester United watched on with interest as Mkhitaryan captained his country.
Mkhitaryan, who has failed to feature in the Premier League since being dragged off at half-time against Manchester City at the start of September, looked sharp against Montenegro and was one of the standout players during the contest.
United fans react
Despite failing to score, the winger produced a number of fine moments and proved a constant threat to the opposition.
Unsurprisingly, fans of the Red Devils quickly took to Twitter to express their thoughts on Mkhitaryan's situation.
As you can see below, the United faithful are urging boss Jose Mourinho to start Mkhitaryan against Arsenal next weekend.
Here are the best tweets from United fans:
But how did Mkhitaryan feel after the game? Well, the former Borussia Dortmund man reacted on Twitter, insisting that he was very proud of his teammates.
He stated: "So happy & proud of our victory today! We were down, but never out! Amazing spirit & three important points! #WCQ"
It will now be interesting to see just how the Mkhitaryan saga plays out over the coming weeks, but United fans certainly haven't given up on their summer signing. Perhaps he will finally be handed a starting berth against Arsenal next Saturday.
