Conor McGregor hasn’t even held his new lightweight champion for 24 hours, and already he’s receiving challenges form fighters wanting to mix it up with him in the Octagon.

One of the most vocal fighters who wanted a title shot is Khabib Nurmagomedov, who submitted Michael Johnson in the third round on the preliminary card at UFC 205, taking his record to an incredible 24-0.

THE EAGLE VS THE NOTORIOUS?

Although his impressive performance is still being talked about, it’s his post-fight press conference and a backstage interview which has got fans talking the most, as The Eagle wants to fight Notorious, and finally get his shot at the lightweight title.

Speaking after the fight to Joe Rogan, he said: “I want to say something. I want to stay humble, but I have to talk because your guys talk too much and you know what’s interesting? I understand how crazy, powerful the UFC machine [is].

“Your guy [Conor McGregor], beginning of the year he tap like a chicken and end of the year he fight for the title.

“Crazy, this is true, this is not trash talking. Irish only 6 million [population], Russian 150 million, I want to fight your chicken because this is number one easy fight in lightweight division.”

The Russian then asked Rogan himself if he thinks he deserves a title shot, and he wholeheartedly agreed as he went on to call out McGregor and Ireland.

He continued: “I have one question, you are one of the biggest analysts guys, you know MMA, you’ve [been] 20 years with MMA, what do you think? Do I deserve a title shot or no, please tell these guys? Let’s go! Let’s go with your chicken.”

TALK REAL RALK

It didn’t end there, though, and it seems as if this bad blood also stems from a confrontation the pair had at the official weigh-ins.

After his fight, backstage, he revealed: “I talked between every round with Dana, I said ‘hey, after this fight, don’t send me your b******t fake contract. Send me a real contract; I want to beat your son.’

“He talked about ‘oh please finish your fight’. I said ‘don’t worry about this, you know I already deserve this.’ After first round, I talked with him, after second round, after when the fight finished, but I know Dana and Conor wanna talk trash talking, but I want to talk real talk, this is between me and these two b******t guys.”

It seemed as if his impressive record wasn’t enough to give Nurmagomedov a shot at Eddie Alvarez, so perhaps taking a leaf out of McGregor’s book could land him a title shot he believes he deserves.
