Manchester United fans shouldn’t really be counting down the days until the January transfer window to make wholesales changes to their squad after their busy summer.
After Jose Mourinho arrived, the Portuguese boss spent £150 million and smashed the world transfer record to sign Paul Pogba.
But it seems that supporters and Mourinho himself aren’t totally convinced with the squad at the moment. Mourinho is seemingly refusing to play several players at the moment with the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay and summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan finding first-team football very hard to come by.
While it’s unclear whether Mourinho will have a fire sale in the upcoming transfer window or not, it seems that United fans are more than happy to see the back of some of their players.
Supporters were asked to vote in a Manchester Evening News survey which players they would like to leave the club in the winter transfer window.
And there were six names that the fans decided they wanted to axe. They were: Phil Jones, Morgan Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Depay, Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini.
Supporters were asked to vote on whether they wanted to keep each player and these six all received less than 50% of votes - meaning the majority of voters wanted them to leave.
Despite featuring often in Mourinho’s side, Fellaini came bottom of the vote with just 18.4% of fans wanting him to stay.
Attention then turned to who fans wanted to sign - and there are four players that received more than 50% of the vote.
Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leads the vote with 74.7% of voters wanting him to sign for United, while he was followed by Fabinho (65.2%), Diego Godin (60.2%) and Isco (52.4%).
It’s doubtful Mourinho will listen to the supporters but at least he now knows what they want.
