Cody Rhodes announced his departure from WWE earlier this year, but that doesn't mean that the former superstar doesn't have fond memories of his time with the company.

Even though the son of WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes has since gone on to appear on TNA Wrestling and Ring of Honor, he still talks about his days in WWE with pride.

When the former Tag Team Champion left WWE, it was cited as mostly because of creative differences and the fact that he no longer wanted to be the Stardust character, this then seemingly left the door open for Rhodes to make a return to the company whenever he was ready.

In a recent interview with False Comeback, Cody was asked to tell one story about his time in WWE and he chose one from back in 2006 when he was still coming through WWE's ranks.

"I remember Hunter told me — and we had this banner that hangs over the regular pipe and drape, ‘come out and rip it down, disrespect DX so people will boo’ and I said that was great,I didn’t know it was a rib, I came out, grabbed the banner, pulled it out and (pop).

"The only thing supporting it was a two by four and it hit me in the back of the head and I’m covered in this green speckle paint. I get in the ring and Hunter and Shawn just laughed at me the whole match. I always thought ‘oh it was an accident’ but no it was a very intentional rib and I fell for it. But that’s the road, ya know?”

Rhodes went on to talk about the fact that growing up around wrestling prepared him for a career in WWE and allowed him to understand the dynamics of pranks that were played by certain superstars.

He stated that his father's ability to separate his wrestling life and his family life was something that inspired him and taught him not to take his job too seriously, so when he was unhappy he knew that he should get out.

"Essentially this is a stressful enough job, if you’re not having fun with it then it’s gonna eat its way at you."
