Remember Iago Aspas?
Liverpool fans certainly do. The player joined the Reds back in 2013 for a fee of £7.6million having impressed with Celta Vigo in Spain's top two divisions as Brendan Rodgers looked for alternative options to give his side a boost ahead of the new season.
However, it didn't quite play out for the Spaniard on Merseyside. After initially struggling to get a foothold in the side, he managed chalk up 15 games and a solitary goal (vs Oldham in the FA Cup) before fleeing back to more familiar climes with Sevilla before the season was over.
Many likely predicted that he would slip back into obscurity where the game would swallow him up and watch him become a footnote on the club's history.
But like before, it's not panning out the way others expected, and instead the 29-year-old has re-established himself as a serious player in his homeland.
So much so, that not only has he been drafted into the Spanish national team as a replacement for the injured Diego Costa, but he's picked up the October Player of the Month award.
And looking at the numbers it's not hard to see why. During his four games over the course of the month the striker has scored five goals from eight shots, created nine chances with one resulting in an assist and recorded seven take ons.
Quite the turnaround from the player Liverpool fans knew.
Returned to his level
This means that he has outperformed the league's biggest and best. Ronaldo, Neymar, Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale will all have to bow and hail the new king of La Liga...for a month a least, and pull something special out the bag in order to get on Iago Aspas' level again.
But no one was more shocked than the fans who had witnessed him flop so spectacularly at Anfield. and a number of them took to Twitter to express their shock at the news.
Hot take right here...
