Rory McIlroy's defence of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai couldn't have got off to a worse start on Thursday.
The Northern Irishman finished three-over-par (75) on the first day, 55th in a 60-man field and nine shots behind then leader Lee Westwood.
A much-improved 68 in round two saw McIlroy climb the leaderboard to joint 29th but, heading into the third day, he remains eight shots behind leaders Sergio Garcia and Francesco Molinari, both on -9.
McIlroy now has a mountain to climb to successfully defend his title, with an eye-watering €1.3 million for the winner also at stake.
His poor form comes as something of a surprise considering he seemed so relaxed in a pre-tournament interview with nine-year-old reporter Billy, as part of The European Tour's 'Little Interview' series.
In fact, you could say that McIlroy was embarrassed by the bubbly youngster, who brought up a number of humiliating topics throughout the six-minute chat, which you can watch below.
One moment in the interview is particularly funny, with Billy bringing up McIlroy's chequered history of haircuts (watch from 0:35).
Billy first produces a picture of McIlroy with what can only be described as a mop of curly hair, saying: "What were you thinking!?"
The 27-year-old, laughing, then responded: "It was a phase, Billy, it was a phase.
"My Dad was constantly telling me you've got to get your haircut and I kept defying him. I should have listened to him."
But that wasn't the end of it. Billy then showed a photo of McIlroy donning slick, straight hair while wearing a suit: "Your Mum says she wants her straighteners back."
And McIlroy replied: "It's so bad. Yeah, that's not good either. It was actually my girlfriend at the time, I think they were her straighteners.
"Not good, not good."
Perhaps being so royally burned by a nine-year-old has had a damaging effect.
