With Conor McGregor in attendance at the UFC Fight Night 99 event, he was bound to draw plenty of attention as he watched his stablemate Artem Lobov pick up a decision win over Teruto Ishihara.
But before the Irishman could invade the Octagon to celebrate with him, the new lightweight champion was called out during the preliminary card, as Kevin Lee delivered an emphatic statement following his first-round submission win over Magomed Mustafaev.
Lee didn’t even give Dan Hardy a chance to ask a question during the post-fight interview, interrupting him by saying: “Man, f**k all that. The division full of a bunch of b*****s, I’ve called out everybody in this division.

“That was the $50,000 bonus right there, I called out everybody, I called out everybody and their mama, I’m on my way up, man. F**k all that.”
However, he went on to directly take aim at McGregor, according to MMAJunkie, and it isn’t the first time he’s hit out at the lightweight division, claiming Eddie Alvarez embarrassed them all with his performance against Notorious at UFC 205.

He went on to add: “I reminded everyone that I am the best fighter in this division. I am the best wrestler. That’s what I came out here to show.
“I didn’t even care about finishing him. I wanted to show that I could keep taking him down whenever the f**k I want to.
“And I would put McGregor on his back right now in this arena, and there isn’t a m**********r in this arena that would stop me.
“I don’t care about the Irish. I called out Conor McGregor because I want that fight. He’s the champ right now in this division, and he doesn’t have anything on me but some years.
“He’s 28; I’m 24. I have years to catch up with him, and I wanted him to know that I’m on his ass, that’s all that was about. He’s got that target on his back, and I’m one of the guys that’s chasing him.”
Although Lee isn’t ranked in the top 15 yet, he’s probably nowhere near deserving of a fight of that magnitude.
However, with an attitude like that, as well as impressive performances, it may be hard to overlook him time and time again.
