Carlos Tevez proved that he’s still capable of scoring against quality European opposition during a friendly against Sevilla earlier this month.
The Argentina international inspired Boca Juniors to a 4-3 victory by netting two excellent goals at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
It’s a year-and-a-half since Tevez returned to his beloved Boca from Juventus, although new reports claim the 32-year-old has been offered an astronomical amount of money to leave Argentina.
According to Yahoo Sports Brazil - per Spanish newspaper Marca - an unnamed Chinese club has offered Tevez a deal worth €40 million per season to leave Boca.
That’s 60 per cent more than the €25m-a-season currently earned by the world’s best player, Lionel Messi.
This would make Tevez the world's best-paid player
If Tevez accepts the offer, he would become the best-paid player in world football.
Just don’t tell Cristiano Ronaldo.
Other high-profile players are earning a fortune in China
Clubs in China have offered a number of high-profile players huge sums of cash to join the Chinese Super League in recent years.
Graziano Pelle is currently earning €16m-a-season with Shandong Luneng, while the likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Ramires and Asamoah Gyan are all pocketing €13m-a-year.
Tevez will probably want to stay in Argentina
Tevez turns 33 in February but still has plenty to offer a top European club, let alone a team in the Chinese Super League.
However, the complex South American spent years in Europe craving a return to his home country and any Chinese club prepared to pay him a fortune would also need to take on his baggage.
Nicknamed ‘El Apache’ after the notorious neighbourhood from which he hails, don’t be surprised if Tevez rejects this extraordinary offer in order to remain put in Buenos Aires.
