Although UFC Fight Night 99 had some good fights taking place, most of the attention fell on Conor McGregor who was sat in the crowd, watching stablemate Artem Lobov pick up a decision victory.
Everyone knows that the likes of Tony Ferguson, Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov are being touted as potential opponents for McGregor, who will make his return to the Octagon next summer after creating history against Eddie Alvarez.
CALLING OUT MCGREGOR
Despite the Irishman set to take time off, that hasn’t stopped fighters from calling him out, and the latest to do that was Kevin Lee; who fought just after Lobov picked up his win.

Lee had no idea McGregor was even in the building watching the event, and responded in typical Motown Phenom fashion when asked what he’d have done if he saw him.
According to MMAJunkie, he said: “I would have jumped the cage, damn.
“All Irish guys look alike. I wish I would have known. Somebody could have told me. They’re all just red beards and bald heads to me.”
Despite not even being ranked in the top 15 in the rankings, Lee is still targeting the newly-crowned lightweight champion – and with frequent outbursts, it’ll be difficult to ignore him for too long.
HITTING OUT AT THE EAGLE
He went on to add: “I think after his last fight, (McGregor) said you’ve got to have some height, some reach, some weight – I’m 195 pounds outside of fighting – 77-inch reach, 5’10”, a hell of a wrestler.
“So this fight was about showcasing that I’m the best wrestler in this division.”
Although McGregor is on top of the world right now, it’s expected that a grappler will be the one to take the title and the momentum away from him, and right now Nurmagomedov is the man people are talking about.
So even though The Eagle feels like the rightful contender, Lee believes he could defeat the Dagestan fighter.
He continued: “Everybody thinks that Khabib is the best wrestler, but this is good old-fashioned American wrestling.
“This ain’t that Sambo (expletive). If you want to go out there, me and Khabib, no punches thrown, I’ll (technical fall) him, 15-0. I’ll keep taking him down, and he won’t do a damn thing about it.”
It seems like Lee is also taking a leaf out of McGregor’s playbook, in the hope that more controversial statements can get him noticed.
