Shrimpers eye permanent Christophe deal

Published Add your comment

Southend boss Steve Tilson has revealed his desire to make Portsmouth loanee Jean-Francois Christophe a permanent member of his Roots Hall ranks.

The midfielder has impressed with the Shrimpers since joining on a two-month deal and Tilson is hopeful he can persuade the Frenchman his future lies with the League One club when his loan-spell comes to an end.

"The second month of his loan is up next weekend and first things first we will be looking to extend that for a third and final month," Tilson told the club`s official website.

"We can't make the loan any longer after that but I would certainly be keen to sign him if we could.

"It hasn't been discussed yet either with either him or Portsmouth but it will be talked about at some stage because I would like to keep him at the club."
