What has happened to Anthony Martial?
The young Frenchman was arguably Manchester United’s best player last season but the 20-year-old is struggling this time around under Jose Mourinho.
Martial was given a chance to impress against Arsenal last weekend but was hauled off after 63 minutes following a disappointing display.

While Martial is still at the start of his career, he looks a completely different player to the one that scored 17 goals in all competitions in his debut season at Old Trafford.
In fact, Martial’s performances have led to Mourinho and United staff to become concerned with his state of mind.

That’s according to the Telegraph who report that Mourinho believes Martial’s private life is affecting his performances on the pitch.
Martial has recently split from his partner, Samantha Jacquelinet, and Mourinho has attempted a series of different approaches in an attempt to get the best out of the forward.
But it’s not only his club manager that has raised concerns about his welfare. France boss Didier Deschamps has also stated that he wants to see more from Martial.
“His club coach expects more from him and so do I,” he admitted.
“I have not forgotten what he has done or what he is capable of doing, but it’s up to him to make efforts to find his best form. He is not at the level where he should be.”
The Red Devils raised eyebrows when they paid an initial £36 million for the former Monaco star - but they will have to pay a lot more if he hits certain targets in terms of goals and appearances for his country.
However, after Deschamps’ criticism and the fact that he’s only scored twice this season, United certainly won’t be paying any instalments for Martial anytime soon.
While Mourinho and Deschamps have expressed their concerns, United legend Gary Neville took it a step further ahead of the match against Arsenal and slammed the youngster.
“He’ll be grateful the spotlight is on Rooney,” Neville said.
“He’s got to produce a lot more. He doesn’t look happy at times, he needs more energy and dynamism in his game. He’s got to go more to get into the game, especially when the ball is not near him.
“I think Martial has gone under the radar and needs to start delivering because some of the performances I’ve seen have been nowhere near good enough, his work rate hasn’t been good enough as far as I can see.
“United signed a player 18 months ago for £55m and to be honest in the last six, seven, eight months he’s not delivered. He certainly has a lot of question marks.”
