Despite all of the talk surrounding Khabib Nurmagomedov deserving a title shot against Conor McGregor, it doesn’t seem like he’s willing to continue waiting for it.
He’s called out Notorious on numerous occasions, dating back to his post-fight conference when he called the history maker a chicken.
Since then, there have been plenty of verbal tirades and the most recent stunt has seen the unbeaten Dagestani post a screenshot of a Twitter direct message he sent to the Irishman, with no response.

However, when speaking to MatchTV, The Eagle has confirmed that he doesn’t plan on waiting six months for McGregor to return, and has now turned his attentions to fellow lightweight contender, Tony Ferguson.
He said: “What they [UFC] will do is unclear.

“Now they are saying (McGregor) is away until May or June. I can still fight (Tony) Ferguson and beat him. What’s next after that?
“There are already negotiations; I’m 90% sure it will happen. I can’t wait until summer. I have missed out on two years of my career (due to injury).
“If I fight Ferguson for the interim belt and win, then fight Conor for the title unification in (UFC) Fight Week in July and do a press tour in the US, Europe, Russia and Asia, everyone could make money.”
TRUE UNDISPUTED CHAMPION
Along with those comments, he also declared himself the true undisputed champion of the lightweight division, claiming he’s looking to defend his title against Ferguson next year.
Speaking to FOX Sports, he said: “Conor is old news.
“Tony Ferguson deserves the shot more than Conor. He’s on a longer winning streak. Conor is 2-1 in his last three fights.
“I’m done talking about Conor. I’m 24-0. I’m ready to defend my undisputed championship against Tony Ferguson.
“I don’t care about Conor. I care about the belt.”
With McGregor set to take time off to be a father, and offering no response to Nurmagomedov’s challenges, it seems as if the logical fight to make is between The Eagle and El Cucuy, with the winner being crowned interim champion.
