With Steven Gerrard getting all the attention on Thursday after calling time on his incredible playing career, it seems one man was a little bit jealous.
Almost all of Gerrard's former teammates paid their tributes with the likes of Xabi Alonso, Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres all writing emotional messages to the legendary midfielder.
We say ‘almost all of Gerrard's former teammates' because not everyone he used to play with was willing to wish him a happy retirement.
You may have already seen former Liverpool player El-Hadji Diouf blast Gerrard on the day he announced his retirement whilst appearing on French TV. If you haven’t click HERE and have a little watch of the video.
The controversial Senegalese forward went on a massive rant about ‘Mr. Liverpool’ and claimed that he was “nothing at all”.
The reaction from Liverpool fans - and football fans in general - on social media was pretty strong and many of the responses using explicit words which we can't include.
However, there was one tweet that summed up the situation perfectly.
That came from former Liverpool star John Arne Riise.
Riise was a teammate of both Diouf and Gerrard on Merseyside and reacted to the latest comments brilliantly.
Check out his tweet below:
Well said, Riise. A 50/50 tackle between the pair is exactly what we’d love to see.
But it’s not the first time Riise has defended Gerrard from criticism from Diouf.
Last December, Diouf did an interview with French magazine So Foot where he blasted both Jamie Carragher and Gerrard for their behaviour at Liverpool.
The Norwegian, once again, reacted on Twitter and pleaded for another 50/50 challenge.
Other than Diouf, Gerrard received plenty of lovely messages after announcing he was hanging up his boots.
We’d like to see the amount of tributes that Diouf receives when he decides to retire from football.
Oh, he already has? Obviously, nobody cared.
