Rangers manager Walter Smith has warned potential suitors Kevin Thomson is not for sale.
Reports last week suggested West Brom could be set to make a bid for the midfielder, who arrived at Ibrox in a £2million deal 18 months ago.
"We have got two months before the next transfer window opens," he said. "There is never any thought in my mind about losing the midfield players we have got here. We need them in the future with the amount of games increasing."
He added: "The good players I have got, I want to keep here.
"With the size of my squad, some players will be leaving but it will not be the ones that are going to take us forward in the future."
Kirk Broadfoot has also been the subject of speculation having been linked with a move to Birmingham.
But a new deal at Rangers is in the pipeline and should cement his Ibrox future.
Smith added: "I have no problem with giving him a new contract - that will come.
"He had a really good season with us last year. He has cemented that with the way he has played and his steadiness with which he has played this season.
"He was a bit inconsistent when he first arrived but now he is gaining experience and is doing really well for us."
