Notts County boss Ian McParland paid tribute to a professional performance from his side after they successfully negotiated their way past Sutton in the first round of the FA Cup.
County skipper Richard Butcher netted a late header to secure a 1-0 win and avoid an upset against the Ryman League outfit.
McParland said: "It's their big day, just like it would be our big day if we drew a Premier League or a Championship side. They're pitting their wits against a club from a higher league and this was their big chance of an upset. I'm delighted they didn't get one."
He added: "We tried to pass the ball and get crosses in. It was a bit tricky but to be fair to the boys, they stuck at it and we got the result. I'll take a 1-0 any day."
County have been drawn at home to the winners of the replay between Kettering and Lincoln in round two.
