Ferguson and Hutton back for Scotland

Published Add your comment

Scotland manager George Burley was boosted by the return of two key players as he named his squad for next week's friendly against Argentina.

Barry Ferguson was included in the 26-man party revealed at Hampden on Tuesday after recovering from ankle surgery in the summer and making three substitute appearances for Rangers.

The skipper has yet to feature for the national team since the arrival of Burley in January, missing all six matches so far through injury.

Tottenham full-back Alan Hutton also returns after a five-month spell on the sidelines and looks set to make his first appearance since the March friendly against Croatia.

Cardiff forward Ross McCormack was named in the squad and is hoping to recover from a hamstring tear in time to play a part against Argentina.

There was also another call-up for Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo despite his infamous miss against Norway but there was no place for Rangers defender David Weir.
