Newell ends Green interest

Grimsby boss Mike Newell has revealed the League Two club will not be following up their interest in defender Adam Green.

The 24-year-old Woking left-back was handed a trial with the Mariners and had the chance to impress in Monday's reserve outing against Leeds.

Newell told the club's official website: "We wanted to have a look at Adam but I'm not sure anything will happen there."

Newell also revealed defender Tom Newey could make a return to training this week after missing Saturday's dramatic defeat at Port Vale with a hamstring injury.
