Brazilian Ronaldo destroys Toni Kroos on Facebook after Brazil-Germany tweet

New Year's Eve belonged to Toni Kroos after the midfielder trolled the Brazil national team on Twitter.

Instead of simply writing 'Happy 2017', Kroos replaced the '1' and '7' with Brazil and Germany flags respectively to reference the 7-1 thrashing at the 2014 World Cup.

Real Madrid teammate Marcelo soon responded to Kroos' jibe by accusing him of a lack of respect, while James Rodriguez liked a reply that said "f*** you".

Brazilian Ronaldo has now hit back and, having seen the funny side of Kroos' joke, opted to play fire with fire with an epic comeback on Facebook.

Game, set and match. In case you've forgotten, Ronaldo scored twice during the 2002 World Cup final against Germany to secure an historic 2-0 victory, hence replacing '2' and '0' with Brazil and Germany flags.

Il Fenomeno's brace meant Brazil won their fifth World Cup title, which is one more than Germany have managed.

Following the backlash, Kroos made clear that his tweet was lighthearted by tweeting: "A lot of attention for a little joke. Wish you all a safe and happy new year!"

That's the last time Kroos will try mocking Brazil...
