Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate will do all he can to hang on to his best players, amid speculation that he may be in for a fight.
Chelsea are being linked with Tuncay Sanli, Tottenham with Stewart Downing and Wigan with Mido as Boro once again find themselves having to deal with unsettling rumours.
"I am sure there will be interest in lots of our players because we have got some good players here," said Southgate.
"That's a good sign that we are doing things right.
"As you go towards January, you know it can be an unsettling period at all football clubs - because speculation runs wild. It's the nature of that transfer window.
"We have to do all we can to try to keep our best players, and if we can add to the squad we will try to do that."
Tottenham's pursuit of Downing is long-standing, with Boro having previously rejected formal offers for the 24-year-old, while Mido was linked with a loan move to Wigan during the summer.
However, Chelsea's interest in 26-year-old Tuncay is new - and understandable after his fine start in English football.
He scored eight goals last season and already has four to his name this time around.
