Spireites feel force of Newton

Published Add your comment

Droylsden defender Sean Newton bagged a double as the Bloods booked a shock place in the FA Cup third round at the fourth time of asking against 10-man Chesterfield.

Bad weather and floodlight failure twice forced this second round fixture to be abandoned but Newton ensured it was all said and done at the Butcher's Arms with goals either side of half-time.

Striker Jack Lester pulled the visitors level before seeing red for an elbow as the Spireites failed to find the killer touch against the Blue Square North team, who will now face Ipswich on January 3.
