Rovers will not buy Villanueva

Blackburn Rovers have told Chile international Carlos Villanueva he can use the January transfer window to find a new club despite them signing him on loan until the summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder was brought to Ewood Park on a 12-month loan deal from Audax Italiano by former manager Paul Ince, but he has played sparingly and new boss Sam Allardyce has already indicated Rovers will not take up the option to buy.

Audax general manager Claudio Tessa has revealed Villanueva could move next month, as he told "They (Blackburn) have already confirmed to us that they will not use the option to buy him. Now we are going to use a part of the agreement that allows us to transfer Carlos to another club if they agree."

He added: "The transfer market is open, but there is little time so it will not be easy."
