QPR midfielder Gavin Mahon believes his side are close to being able to challenge for promotion from the Championship.
The arrival of Paulo Sousa as manager has heralded a change in the Rs' fortunes and they are now just four points adrift of the play-off places.
"I've said before that I don't think this team is far away from being really successful and pushing onto the next level," Mahon told the club's official website.
"In games we've had chances to kill teams off and sometimes it is difficult because teams know our system. It's up to us to open them up and get goals and the positive thing at the moment is that we look like doing that."
QPR face Burnley at Loftus Road in the FA Cup third round on Saturday and Mahon is wary of the Clarets after seeing them knock out Chelsea and Arsenal on their way to the Carling Cup semi-finals.
"They're a good side and have knocked out some decent sides in the Carling Cup. It won't be easy but we expect to win every game we play, especially at home, and there's no reason why we can't go and win this one," added Mahon.
