Saints swoop for Saeijs

Published Add your comment

Southampton boss Jan Poortvliet has raided one of his former clubs to land defender Jan-Paul Saeijs.

The 30-year-old centre-half has joined Saints on loan until the end of the season from Dutch side Roda JC.

Saints are hoping the paperwork will be cleared by midday on Friday, which will enable Saeijs to be involved in Saturday's Championship trip to Barnsley.

Poortvliet was short of numbers in defence after Chelsea loanee Jack Cork opted for a move to Watford, while Michael Svensson and Wayne Thomas are injured.
