Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson has clinched the signing of striker Nick Chadwick until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old, who began his career at Premier League giants Everton, saw his short-term contract at League One strugglers Hereford come to an end on Thursday.

Simpson told the club`s official website: "He`s a player who I have liked for a long time. His time at Hereford didn`t really work out as he`d have liked and he didn`t play as many games as he would have liked."

He added: "We've now managed to get him in until the end of the season and the ball is really in his court to show everyone he is still a player who is capable of playing at a higher level and secure something longer."

Chadwick will go straight into the squad for the visit of Chester.
