Leyton Orient have parted company with long-serving manager Martin Ling after more than five years in charge.

Ling, who was the sixth longest serving manager in the Football League having been at the club since September 2003, has left the club by mutual consent in the wake of the O`s 2-1 home defeat to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

Orient have endured a tough season so far, winning just five league games all season and losing their last four.

Ling`s departure, which also sees assistant boss Dean Smith leave Brisbane Road, comes at a time when the club sit 21st in Coca-Cola League One.

Youth team manager Kevin Nugent has been appointed caretaker boss for Tuesday night`s game with Southend, with the club hoping to appoint a successor within a fortnight.
