McIntyre blow for Shrews

Published Add your comment

Kevin McIntyre is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he suffered a double fracture of the right fibula during Shrewsbury's 1-1 draw against Port Vale.

Midfielder McIntyre sustained a knock in the first half at Vale Park before being helped from the pitch after the interval. The League Two club initially suspected it to be a calf problem but it has turned out to be much worse.

He will now see a specialist to receive a complete assessment of the injury as the club refuse to speculate as to how long he will be ruled out.

Manager Paul Simpson told Shrews' official website: "It's a big blow for Kevin and for us as he's being doing really well recently.

"We will have a better idea of the long-term prognosis once we've seen the specialist and will have a better understanding of how it will affect us."
