Peterborough midfielder Paul Coutts has pledged to help guide the club to promotion from League One after he was fined for drink driving.
The 20-year-old has been handed a driving ban as well as a fine after being arrested last week but is concentrating on a return to the pitch.
He said in a statement: "In a moment of stupidity I decided to drive a short distance to my home whilst over the limit."
He added: "The punishment handed out to me was fully justified and it will serve as a lesson to me and hopefully anyone else who is tempted to drive whilst over the legal limit.
"I am extremely grateful for all the support I have received and am focusing all my efforts on helping this club secure promotion."
Peterborough have confirmed that they have dealt with the matter internally.
